What is the purpose of the top level Cef directory?

After syncing down the 2272 source code I noticed that the top level directory has a new "cef" directory. This is in addition to the nested directory that seems to function as it did in the last branch I worked with (2062). I was curious as to the role thie top level directory has.

The top-level cef directory is a clean checkout. The chromium/src/cef directory will be deleted when the chromium checkout changes and then restored from the top-level cef directory.
