I seem to remember that at some point these sort of automation/offscreen APIs were not implemented on Linux. Is that still the case?

It depends what branch you're using. They're currently implemented in <= 1916 and are being re-implemented for trunk in https://code.google.com/p/chromiumembed ... il?id=1257.

I am mainly using the release CEF3 branches. We aren't on 1916 yet but will be soon. It is good to know that these APIs work on all three platforms. Thanks.
