Impact of NaCl deprecation on PPAPI plugins in CEF

Postby blay » Fri Jul 07, 2017 10:35 am

Recently I noticed that the (P)NaCl technology for native performance on the Web has been deprecated by Google.
For example see https://blog.chromium.org/2017/05/goodb ... embly.html
And the notice at the top of https://developer.chrome.com/native-cli ... per_stable

In our use case of CEF on Windows we rely on a PPAPI plugin that can access system shared memory to fetch large (4k) images quickly.

Is Cef support for PPAPI plugins (which use the same Pepper API as NaCl) affected by this deprecation?

thanks

CEF never supported (P)NaCl. There's no indication at this point that ppapi support will be impacted.
