Anyone build 3.2924 from source using Visual Studio 2017?

Postby HarmlessDave » Sat Mar 18, 2017 4:01 pm

We plan to move to CEF 3.2924 soon, so I will need to upgrade from my current VS 2013. Instead of moving to 2015 I'd prefer to go to 2017 now that it's out of beta.

Has anyone built Chromium 56 + CEF 3.2924 from source successfully using VS 2017? It would be nice to know that it should work before spending the time on setting up VS 2017 and running a multi-hour build process.

Thx for response...

Applications using the binary distribution can be built with VS2017.

We are still using VS 2015 with 3.2924.

If I remember correctly, when I looked at using VS 2017 with 3.2924 back in March I read something about the Chromium source not building correctly with VS 2017 or VS 2013, so VS 2015 was needed.

Is there some reason why you want to move to 3.2924 instead of a newer version like 3.3202?

no, we'd like to move to the newest version of course, I think you wrote the version 3.2924 yourself in your topic creation post.
@Marshall:
What do you mean?
What limitations would I have using VS 2017?
Am I able to compile newest JCEF with VS 2017 too?

When building CEF/Chromium from source code you need to use the compiler tool versions specified at https://bitbucket.org/chromiumembedded/ ... QuickStart

When building applications using the CEF binary distribution see the included README.txt file for supported compiler tools. Most modern versions (2010+) should work.
