Noob question

Postby adamlaw » Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:59 pm

Hi, thank you for this project!

This might sound like a newbie question, but I'm making an application that's to distributed to Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms. Do I need to compile JCEF for each platform and make it part of the bundle? Or do I only need to compile for my development platform, and once my application's jar is made, it , along with JCEF, will be portable to all the other platforms?

I'm sorry to ask, I just couldn't find the answer in the docs I came across.

Thanks!

You will need to compile JCEF on each platform because the native binaries will be different. One the binaries are created you should be able to build your Java application on a single platform and distribute to all platforms (bundled with the correct platform-specific binaries).
